The Original Rice Krispies Treats Squares

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 (10 ounce) packageregular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows


DIRECTIONS

Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat.
(It would be perfect to be measuring out all of the cereal at this time, having it ready in a large bowl.).
Working quickly, add rice krispies cereal, and stir until the cereal is well coated.
Using a buttered spatula or waxed paper, press the mixture evenly into a greased 13 by 9 by 2 inch pan (or whatever pan you have on hand).
When the treats are cooled, cut into squares.
Serve, and enjoy!

Marshmallow Treats

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter 
  • 4 cups miniature marshmallows 
  • 5 cups crisp rice cereal
Method
Melt butter in large sauce pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and well-blended. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
Add cereal. Stir until well coated.
Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly and firmly in buttered 13 x 9 inch pan. Cut into 2 x 2 inch squares when cool. Enjoy!

Coconut and Chocolate Rice Crispies
Ingredients

  •  1/4 cup butter
  •  1 (10 ounce) package large marshmallows
  •  5 cups chocolate flavored crispy rice cereal
  •  1/3 cup sweetened flaked coconut

Instruction

Grease a 9x13 inch pan. Melt butter in large sauce pan over medium-low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
Quickly stir the marshmallow mixture into the cereal and coconut to coat. Press into the prepared pan with the back of a buttered spoon. Cool completely before cutting into squares.Enjoy !!

Indian Spiced Rice Treats


Indian Spiced Rice Treats
Ingredients

  •  1/2 cup unsalted butter
  •  1 (10 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
  •  6 cups crispy rice cereal
  •  1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  •  1 cup chopped unsalted cashew nuts
  •  1 cup golden raisins

Directions
In a large bowl, toss together the cereal, cashew nuts and raisins. Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. Stir in the marshmallows and cardamom until smooth. Pour in the cereal mixture, and stir until evenly coated. Spread evenly in a greased baking dish, and pat down lightly. Cool, and cut into squares.
